Final Fantasy XIII was likely the most divisive entry in the Final Fantasy franchise to date. While this may be true, 200 people in Japan were asked who their favorite female Final Fantasy character is, and the results may surprise you.
While you may be expecting a character from VII or VI (generally accepted as the most popular games in the franchise) to top the list, it was actually Lightning.
By a fairly large margin, considering the vast assortment of possible choices, Lightning garnered 17 votes (or 8.5%), with Yuna from Final Fantasy X (6.5%) and Tifa from Final Fantasy VII (4.5%) rounding out the top three.
Lightning’s dignified personality served her well, while respondents referred to Yuna as “cute” and “pure”. Tifa is likely #3 due to the nostalgia of Final Fantasy VII and the fact that she beats her opponents into submission with her bare hands.
Whatever the case may be, it would appear that Lightning is the most desirable girlfriend for Japanese Final Fantasy fans.
